When the son of Adam wakes up in the morning, all of his body parts bow to the tongue 👅 and say, "Fear Allah regarding us, we are only part of you. If you are straight we are straight and if you are crooked we are crooked." (Tirmidhi, 2407 - Graded as Hasan)
We as Muslims should protect our tongue from all that Allah and his Messenger (ﷺ) have prohibited. This includes forging lies, slandering, gossiping, and vulgar speech. Whenever we intend to speak, 🗣 it is wise to consider our words. If we consider what we intend to say is worthy or beneficial then we should speak. However it is better to refrain from speaking if our words do not contain any goodness in them.
We could say a single word or phrase that might be the cause of misery, by demolishing our prospects for tranquility and success in the Hereafter, on the other hand, we could say a single word or phrase, which is so meaningful and positively that Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala raises us by many degrees as stated in the following hadith :
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "A slave (of Allah) may utter a word which pleases Allah without giving it much importance, and because of that Allah will raise him to degrees (of reward): a slave (of Allah) may utter a word (carelessly) which displeases Allah without thinking of its gravity and because of that he will be thrown into the Hell-Fire." (Sahih Bukhari, 6478)
We as Muslims should strive to protect our tongue from all that Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala has prohibited whilst seeking his pleasure and reward. And we can achieve this without much difficulty if we are helped and guided by Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. 💐
"...Beware ! There is a piece of flesh in the body if it becomes good (reformed) the whole body becomes good but if it gets spoilt the whole body gets spoilt and that is the heart." (Bukhari, 52)
May Allah Protect us & Guide us all. Aameen
